A woman’s hair is said to be one of her strongest beauty attributes. That’s why when she starts facing hair loss, it can be a source of anxiety and down-right panic.
The normal hair loss rate averages between 50-100 hairs a day and when washed can even reach up to 250 hairs. However, if a woman experiences locks of her hair falling at once on a regular basis, other health reasons behind hair loss should be considered.
When taking care of your hair, it is essential to look into your overall health and make sure that you’re getting the right sources of nutrition in order to get healthy hair, too. If you’ve checked that off your list and still face severe hair loss, here are a few reasons that might be the cause of your problem:
Pregnancy

We hate to break it to you, but if your hair is falling heavily, it’s best to take a pregnancy test as it is not unusual to face hair thinning during pregnancy.
Hormonal disturbances

Thyroid imbalance

The hormones secreted by the thyroid gland are essential to make your body feel balanced. When there is a problem with the gland, it can have a huge impact on your hair and result in hair loss.
If this symptom is paired with an inflation in your neck area as well as extreme fatigue or a drastic change in weight -whether by gaining or losing weight- it is best to see a doctor to get your thyroid gland checked.
Anemia

With iron deficiency, the body tends to relocate the oxygen in the blood to what it feels is essential. In most cases, the hair does not get enough supply of oxygen, making it another reason that leads to hair loss.
Diseases

There are other health issues that could result in hair loss such as poly-cystic ovaries, eczema or psoriasis.
Stress or anxiety

Being overly stressed can have a huge impact on your body and result in many setbacks, one of which includes hair loss. Use meditation to try and steer clear of stress and avoid its affect on your body and hair.
Losing weight too quickly

The healthy way of losing weight is losing a pound per week. If you lose weight faster than that, you could not be getting enough nutrients and your hair will be one of the things to pay the price.
Medication

One of the side effects of several medications, such as anti-depressants, is hair loss. Be sure to check the leaflet and read the side effects before you take any medication.
Genetic diseases

One of the reasons your hair could be falling is your genes. If hair loss or baldness runs in the family, it could be the reason behind your hair loss.
Radiation

When exposed to certain types of radiation, a common side effect is hair loss. Radiation not only affects damaged cells, but can also kill healthy cells including those that affect hair growth.
While most of these causes are out of your hands, there are other reasons your hair could be falling that you can control. Things like braiding your hair too tightly, using hair dye too frequently or hair treatments such as keratin or protein could severely damage your hair and lead to hair loss, too.
