The more you work out or exercise, the more calories you’ll be burning, and reducing the amount of weight you gain. In order to avoid weight gain during pregnancy, always have a fresh supply of healthy snacks at hand such as fruits and vegetables. Not only do they have fewer calories, but they are also full of vitamins and will be extremely beneficial to your pregnancy.
Choose the right carbs

It’s normal to find yourself craving carbs during pregnancy, especially if you have morning sickness. But in order to maintain your weight during pregnancy, you can substitute your bread, cereals, and crackers with whole grain. Carbs are required during pregnancy as they are a great source of energy and therefore should not be cut out completely.
Reduce your portions

It’s normal to find yourself getting hungry frequently while pregnant. So, instead of eating a big portion every single time and consuming more calories, it’s best to minimize your portions and increase the number of meals to 5-6 per day.

While there is a list of foods you should avoid during pregnancy for health reasons, there are also foods you should avoid in order to maintain your weight. These include empty calorie foods high in sugar and fats such as cakes, biscuits, cookies, chips, and candies.

Staying hydrated is essential for your body’s health and to maintain your energy levels. However, when you drink a lot of fluids, you also take up more space in the stomach, leaving you feeling less hungry. This is a great, healthy tip to help prevent you from gaining excess weight during pregnancy.
