How are you holding up? A question that every mother needs to hear more often. We know they don’t get what you are going through. We know that you’re trying your best. We also know that you’re wondering if you’re getting the job done, and asking yourself if you are a good mommy every single day.
Well, you are. You’re doing an amazing job. We as moms tend to have doubts about our performances, because – let’s face it – we grew up believing that motherhood is a full-time job with no days off. And yes, it is. Yet, it’s also a wonderful journey of self-exploration and personal growth foremost. It really depends on how you decide to view it.
Whatever your work arrangement is, whether you’re a working or a stay-at-home mom, we know that you feel guilty. You might feel that you’re not doing enough, no matter how hard you try. If you’re a working mom, they will judge you. If you decided to stay at home, then you’ve definitely been asked the most provoking question on earth, “What do you do all day?”.
Forgive them for they don’t understand. Don’t let them get to you. Don’t believe them. Please don’t. It’s a vicious and endless loop.
Mommy, you have nothing to prove to anyone. You don’t need to impress anybody. You don’t need anybody’s validation. It’s okay to be confused. It’s okay to make mistakes. It’s okay to be confident and learn from your mistakes. It’s okay to wing it. We’re all winging it, aren’t we?
You are worth all the attention you’re sparing yourself. Learn how to love yourself. Practice self-care. Prioritize yourself; it’s not selfishness in any way. Be kinder to your children and yourself. Forgive and let go.
But most importantly, we’re in this together. We feel you. We experience your daily struggles in our version of the story. We all have doubts, but we have one another too. We all make mistakes, but we all love unconditionally.
Keep on ruling the world, Rahet Bally mamas.
