Getting infected with COVID-19 is difficult to handle physically and emotionally. It’s more difficult when you are a mother. Finding a backup for your motherly duties is not a piece of cake. Taking the needed precautions to avoid the infection of your children is never easy. The most heartbreaking part is isolating yourself from your little ones, especially if they are too young to understand why mommy can not touch them.
Imagine testing positive for coronavirus while breastfeeding your baby? This was the tough ordeal this warrior mama experienced. We want to shed light on her inspiring story that proves that moms do what no one can. It’s the motivation for any mother facing the same situation and feeling that she can’t make it.
Fear and pain
Esraa Adel is a mother of three, one of her children is a breastfeeding baby. Finding out that she is COVID-19 positive was shocking after taking all the necessary precautions and staying at home most of the time. Esraa was extremely worried that her baby might get infected as she was always carrying him and couldn’t keep her distance as with her other kids.
When you’re not allowed to hold your baby
It was exceptionally hard as she kept wearing the mask for 15 days morning and night. Her husband took care of their baby and she limited the contact with the baby except during feeding. “I tried to take all the needed precautions, washed my hands, and sanitized everything with alcohol to protect him,” Adel further added.
The real challenge was forcing herself to breastfeed the baby while in extreme pain. She couldn’t bear seeing him hungry. “The most heartbreaking part was seeing him longing for my touch,” the beautiful mother told us. The moment the doctor assured her that she has recovered and can safely take off the mask, she was relieved and happy. The baby kept touching the mom’s face after seeing it maskless.
“Hold on! Things will get better and God will protect your children,” said Adel to every mother facing a similar situation. Not all superheroes wear capes and this is what Esraa glowingly showed us in her inspirational story.
