We all agree that coronavirus, with all of its related news, is causing panic and confusion. Working mothers don’t know where to leave their little ones or how to work with homes with kids around, parents don’t know how to help with online schooling, people can’t find sanitizers or antiseptics, and many are afraid that essential groceries will be out of stock.
With rumors spreading all over social media, businesses trying to unethically exploit the crisis, and people attacking each other, many venues, as well as people, showed generous actual steps and helped ease the situation. We should thank them and spread positivity and inspiration as they are setting the example for others to follow.
Special needs community: The Egyptian Autistic Society and Launch Egypt
#YouAreNotAlone is not just a hashtag, The Egyptian Autistic Society implemented it via this generous initiative, as well as Launch Egypt, who are fully aware that some parents are facing real struggles as all rehabilitation centers for special needs children are shut down.
El Brens restaurant
Although there is no official declaration from The Ministry of Health and Population, the restaurant management was one of the first to decide to close their doors for two weeks for the safety of their staff and customers. The staff will be paid their full salary. A respectful step that was expected from big chains! The owner, Naser El Brens, announced that he will donate one million Egyptian pounds to The Ministry of Education and other entities.
International City School staff and students
In a world full of shaming and bullying, students of International City School created a support video for their colleague, Adam, who got infected by coronavirus earlier this month. I think we should all make our little ones watch this video and learn.
Flamingo Hyper Market
Not only did Flamingo Hyper Market calm down customers about empty shelves, all workers wear gloves even the security man at the entrance.
Oscar Grand Stores
Oscar Grand Stores started a very respectful initiative, allocating an hour every morning from 8-9 am for elderly people to shop safely. The store is filled with sanitizers at every corner for customers to use.
Hyper One
Hyper One joined the trend as well. We would love to thank everyone for trying to calm people down during times of panic.
GoodsMart
GoodsMart assured customers that they will refill their shelves constantly, and will only allow customers to buy 10 pieces of each product. This is an amazing step to help prevent people from panic stocking.
Health caregivers

We can’t forget to thank physicians and nurses in Egyptian hospitals. While we are granted flexible working hours and work from home policies, they work around the clock and expose themselves to danger to provide the adequate health care service that suits the current situation.
