Just when we thought schools were a safe zone for our children, Egypt’s international schools are shutting down once again. Many parents took to social media these past couple of days to share the news that they received emails from schools announcing that they will continue online until further notice.

Egyptian schools shut down
Some of the schools that have allegedly either shut down or plan on continuing online schooling until the winter break are Hayah International Academy, Europa Schule Kairo, Gateway International Montessori School, Leaders International College, Manor House International School, DSB, BISC, Al-Afak Algadeda International School, The International School of Choueifat, and more.
The schools explained that shutting down is currently the best decision for the children and teachers’ safety considering the high number of positive COVID-19 cases. It is not clear yet if this will last until the end of the winter break or not. While this is not a decision made by the government, it seems that many schools will be following the same trend in the next few days.
