Le’bet Newton series is one of the biggest trends this Ramadan starring Mona Zaki, Mohamed Faraag, and Mohamed Mamdouh. The series tells the story of a woman who illegally travels to The United States to give birth so her baby can obtain the US citizenship, only to be faced with endless obstacles. The extraordinary performance of the actors -especially Mona Zaki in the leading role- the coherence of the plot, and the mastery of the production cannot be missed.
Aside from the series being an artistic masterpiece, we were taken away by one of the locations: Badr’s House. Located at Tunis village in Fayoum and owned by the famous architect Omar Al-Farouk, the house is visually stunning. The village of Tunis (‘izbat Tunis) is located in the oasis of Fayoum, on the way to Wadi Rayan. The village faces a large saltwater lake and overlooks a stunning view of the edge of the desert on one of the sides of the lake.
Amazingly, AlFarouk’s house took 25 years to be built. It has an Islamic design that blends authenticity and modernity simulating the Mamluk and Fatemi eras’ architecture. The most important design in the house is the entrance door, which was originally Fatma Al Zahraa mosque’s door.
