There are people who are born leaders and who came into this world to make a difference; whether it’s by fighting for a cause, inflicting change, or just thriving to be successful, follow their passion, and not let anyone in the world stop them. This force of power and inspiration is held by no other than fashion designer and model Nesma Yahia.
Yahia, known as model for people of short stature, just launched her very first fashion line for veiled and non-veiled short people. Yahia chose to model for her brand ‘Breeze’ which includes stunning designs of evening wear, kaftans, blouses, skirts, and even everyday dresses.
It’s not always easy to find appropriate and fashionable items for people of short stature. Using only 125 cm of cloth, Yahia came up with her inspirational designs and brand. Yahia not only tried to solve a problem she was facing, but also managed to make her dream of launching her own brand come true.
“There is no place for people of short stature in commercial stores. In fact, finding something to wear has proven quite difficult that it takes a really long time, or we end up going to a tailor. However, most tailors don’t pay much attention to us, and so, we end up wearing the same clothes over and over again. We even try to keep our weight stable, so that we can continue to fit in our clothes without struggling to find new ones,” Yahia explained.
“At ‘Nesma’ or ‘Breeze’, we offer unique designs and try to give short people the ability to be fashionable and trendy.”
Throughout her process, Yahia designs models that are appropriate for the body proportion of a short person, while still implementing modern and unique designs. She then picks out her fabrics and makes an agreement with a tailor to make her designs come to life.
The beauty of her designs not only lie in their simplicity and cause, but also in the fact that she sells them for very affordable prices of around EGP 150.
