Everything we do affects the environment around us and impacts the future. When it comes to pollution, humans have caused so much damage that we can see the effects on global warming, endangered species, and even plastic in the ocean!
As individuals, we should each take the responsibility to work towards a more sustainable lifestyle and play a role in saving our planet. The Adidas campaign, Run For The Oceans, has been giving us quite the motivation this week; however, there are also ways to save the planet from the comfort of your home.
Make your own baby food

Instead of buying baby food in disposable jars, pouches, or plastic packaging, you can become more sustainable by making your own baby food recipes. Not only will it reduce your waste and take you one step closer in the direction of a green parenting approach, but it is also healthier for your baby. It does not contain preservatives and can be made of high-quality ingredients that you’ve prepared yourself.
Run for the oceans
Another sustainable approach you can take is participating in Adidas’ ‘Run For The Oceans’ campaign. For every 10 mins you run and log in via their app, Adidas will remove 1 plastic bottle from the ocean. Starting from May 28th to June 8th, make it your mission to keep moving indoors or outdoors. Whether you’re moving around in the kitchen or shopping with your little ones in the mall, every step counts.

How many times a month do you go to the supermarket? How many plastic bags do you use each time to carry your groceries? A simple eco-friendly tip you can start adopting is taking your own reusable grocery bags to the supermarket and reducing your plastic waste.
Be mindful of your laundry

When you have kids, it’s normal to run the washing machine several times a day without loading it entirely out of necessity. You can find that you’ve run out of pajamas or that your child doesn’t have a clean school uniform.
But did you know that running the washing machine uses up a lot of electricity and can impact the environment negatively? When taking a more sustainable approach, you should wait until your load is full before using the washing machine, use low temperatures and choose eco-friendly detergents to help significantly reduce the negative impact on the environment.
Teach your children about recycling

Your responsibility as a parent is to teach your children about recycling and to try to be mindful of limiting waste. You can do this by sorting your trash, teaching them about recycling, and even upcycling things like cereal boxes and mason jars into fun art projects.
