With the first week of Ramadan coming to end, we’ve put together a roundup of the top 4 Ramadan mosalsat you need to be watching. Instead of wasting time watching all the mosalsalat, here’s a brief description of some of the best Ramadan series in terms of production, storyline, and acting:
Al Ikhtiyar 2
A continuation of last year’s incredible series, Al Ikhtiyar playing on Egyptian patriotism, viewing the events from a different perspective, and how the lives of Egyptian officers were affected. It shows the extreme measures security offers are willing to take to protect their country as well as the citizens and is a series that will fill you with pride. This season takes us on a thrilling ride in Raba’a ElAdaweya.
Al Qahera Kabul
This series is a masterpiece shedding light on the terrorist acts taking place in the Arab region from the perspective of 4 different characters. The four friends who grew up together each represent a different sect of society as one plays the role of a terrorist, a police officer, a reporter, and an artist. The series unfolds the events through each character, how each identity perceives it, is affected by it and how the characters end up going against each other despite their intertwined background.
This thriller starring Mona Zaki, Mohamed Mamdouh, Mohamed Farag, Sayed Ragab, and Aisha Bin Ahmed focuses on the concept of co-dependency in a marriage between Mona Zaki and Mohamed Mamdouh. In an attempt to break through, Zaki flees to the US to give birth on her own. As the events unfold, Zaki fluctuates from feeling lost and helpless to taking small steps of becoming independent, especially when she gets a pep talk from another character.
The toxic relationship being portrayed and the effect it has on Zaki is one that makes this series heart-wrenching and an absolute must-watch.
This Ramadan, only two shows are comedy-centric: ‘Khali balak Men Zizi’ and ‘Ahsan Abb’. So, if you’re looking for something light and funny, here’s what you need to watch:
Khali Balak Min Zizi
The series staring Amina Khalil, Mohamed Mamdouh, Bayoumy Foud, Ali Kassem, Sabry Fawaz, and Asmaa Galal revolves around a short-tempered female (Amina Khalil) who lashes out at her husband who asked for divorce right after a failed IVF, resulting in severe injuries. As charges are pressed, Khalil is instructed by her attorney to undergo anger management, play boxing, and take acting classes in an attempt to win the case. It’s fun and light as opposed to the endless thrillers on TV this month.
