The situation with coronavirus has been going crazy in Egypt over the past couple of weeks. Every day, the curve is getting higher, more and more people are testing positive for coronavirus, our newsfeeds are being filled with death posts.
Unfortunately, many people are being reckless and selfish because they are afraid to announce that they are infected with the virus. Instead of caring for the safety of others, self-isolating, and trying to stop the virus from spreading, they do not let anyone know that they’re sick and go about their daily lives, infecting many others, and putting numerous lives at risk. This isn’t just selfish, immature, and completely reckless, it is also very dangerous.
Here are a few reasons why you need to be honest and let those around you know if you have coronavirus:
- To stop the virus from spreading
- To raise awareness
- Share your experience
- Help everyone know what to expect
- Help everyone know where to go
To stop the virus from spreading
If it isn’t already obvious, coronavirus is extremely contagious and that is where the danger lies. That’s why you have a responsibility to announce to your family, friends, colleagues, and anyone you have dealt with in order to self-isolate. Anyone who has had contact with you within the past 14 days could have picked up the virus and therefore has a right to know if they’re at risk, too.

Unfortunately, even though things are getting out of hand in Egypt and cases are increasing every day, people are still traveling together, throwing house parties, and interacting with each other as if a global pandemic is only part of a parallel universe. If everyone speaks up and lets those around them know how close coronavirus is, maybe it will influence their behavior and convince them to take it seriously and actually stay home.
Share your experience
Everyone on social media is freaking out. Hospitals no longer have the capacity to admit any patients and no one knows what to do if they actually get coronavirus which is causing a sense of panic. If you have coronavirus, sharing your experience and leading people in the right direction will be of great help during these scary times.
Knowing what to expect

Because coronavirus symptoms are very similar to so many other viruses, explaining how you felt, how the symptoms developed, and what you did each step of the way can help save lives, raise awareness, and help people know what to expect.

With hospitals not allowing patients in, letting those around you know where you went, which hospital, doctor, institution, or ambulance was offering aid could help save someone else’s lives.
We know that many people react horribly towards coronavirus patients out of fear, but it is important to declare your status to keep those around you safe.
